“Your predictions are so accurate it’s actually scary…”
This story is about a palm reading session I had 10 days ago.
K (60 years old), a customer who has come in a number of times with her family, this time came in for a session alone.
When the time came for the session, she had no sooner entered the palm reading office and sat in the chair,
when she said,
“Your predictions are so accurate they’re scary. I’m honestly very excited today.”
I asked her, “What’s scary about them?”
When I asked her what it was about me that was so scary, she told me that something I had said to her off-hand in her previous session (a year and a half prior)… had come true.
“What? Really?” I said.
According to her,
“When I was getting ready to leave after my session a year and a half ago, you said
’Oh, a lot of suffering with her relatives… How worrisome, very worrisome…’”
*I myself had completely forgotten that I had said anything like that. I thought to myself, “Did I really say something that ominous?” But I suppose at the time I probably did.
K herself, however, did not think very much about this comment at the time, and had gone home thinking,
“That’s probably not true. It’ll be fine, it’ll be fine.”
K had taken “relatives” to mean her husband’s relatives
And so she had thought to herself that something might happen to her husband’s relatives.
All of her family and relatives were doing fine at the time, which is why she had thought this.
But when the unfortunate event did occur, it was not on her husband’s side, but on her own.
And as to what had happened…
What occurred to K’s family
In the year after her palm reading session,
K’s sister (60 years old; provided long-term care for their mother) and her mother (92 years old) both passed away.
It seemed that I had caught onto this, and that was why I had whispered, “ Oh, a lot of suffering with her relatives… How worrisome…”
Although this is a bit of a strange story in that I myself don’t remember saying this at all.
K, seeing what I had said coming true in her life, had felt nothing but regret:
“I just so wished I had listened to what you’d said more carefully.”
A strange story for me as well…
This was a bit of a strange story for me as well.
That is to say, I am not normally someone who says such ominous things, so I felt perhaps, even more surprised than she did by what had transpired.
Having looked back on it, I now realize that what I said to her was not some ominous foretelling.
I had caught on in some way to the suffering she would have to endure in the future, and given her this bit of advice in an effort to have her avoid this suffering. A comment borne out of my desire that she be happy.
Whatever the case, I was much more careful with my words this time around as she was leaving.
And so it was that I was able to hear what happened in a customer’s life after a future prediction.
